Our Story
From building decks as teenagers to leading Alberta’s deck industry
The owners of Deck King began building decks in their teens. What started as weekend projects and summer jobs became a lifelong passion for outdoor construction. Over two decades of learning, growing, and refining their craft, they’ve built Deck King into one of Alberta’s most trusted deck building companies.
From the very start, we built a reputation as Calgary’s premier deck builders. This is thanks to our meticulous work and putting our customers’ total satisfaction above all else. Our passion for construction is not new — it’s been honed over 20+ years of hands-on experience with Calgary’s harsh winters, unique soil conditions, and the creative ideas our customers throw at us.
Although we’ve grown into one of the largest deck building companies in Alberta, we still tackle each project with the same passion and excitement we’ve had from the start. Every deck is personal. Today, Deck King operates out of two offices — Calgary and Edmonton — serving homeowners across the province. We handle everything in-house: design, permits, foundations, carpentry, and cleanup. Design It, Build It, Live It — our proven 3-step approach
Design It
Free in-person consultation at your property. We discuss your vision, walk the space, review materials and railing options, and create a custom design with a detailed written estimate using digital approval software.
Build It
We order materials, schedule delivery, remove existing structures, install engineered foundations (concrete or helical piles), and complete all carpentry work. Timelines range from 1 day to several weeks depending on scope.
Live It
Full site cleanup, debris removal, and municipal inspection. We hand over your completed project backed by our Lifetime Workmanship Warranty and 25–50 year product warranties. Time to enjoy your new outdoor space.
